I moved to Melbourne during secondary school, following my parents as they relocated for work. But one afternoon, heading to class as usual, I took a detour. The shortcut was barely recognizable—an old sign warning of repairs had faded to yellow, and the construction materials nearby had long solidified under layers of dust. Clearly, no one had passed that way in a long time. And yet, I walked it. Hi, I’m Leo.
